FreeConferenceCall.com

A word of caution before using this service, or any similar service: These companies exist because they are able to generate revenue from placing their operations in rural locations. These rural locations, served by local phone companies, charge larger phone companies for sending calls to their system. This was originally done to help offset the cost of installing phone service in sparsely populated areas.

Some phone companies, especially cellular companies, have attempted to block or limit access to these services. While this is a violation of FCC regulations, it still occurs with some frequency, according to the conference call companies. Though I have used these services regularly and not experienced any problems, I thought you should have the whole story.

Though I will specifically discuss FreeConferenceCall.com, there are many other similar services. These services are very similar to a regular conference call system: You sign up for an account, you are provided a access number and code, you distribute the code to the callers, and you make your call.

The main difference is that the dial-in number is generally a phone number in Iowa. Since so many people use cell phones, this is not a significant impediment to using these services. Even if you are calling from a landline, it is possible that your cost to call long distance is significantly less than the cost of a regular conference call account.

Having used this service, I can attest to the clarity of the call and the ease of use. You can record calls, have up to 100 callers per call, and conference can last for up to six hours. If you are interested in this service, you can go to FreeConferenceCall.com

If you would like to try other services, please click the banners below. I have not used these services and can’t speak to their quality or dependability.
